Technical College Students Shine at the State Capitol

Earlier this week I was so pleased to join a number of our students at the state capitol for the annual Wisconsin Technical College System “Student Showcase.”  Student projects from all 16 technical colleges were on display and highlighted for state legislators, System leaders, and college presidents from across Wisconsin.  FVTC Interior Design students, Danielle Powers, Lisa Van Lannen and Kayla Domaszek featured their outstanding kitchen designs that have been entered in this year’s National Kitchen and Bath Association student design competition.

Our Student Government officers were also in the Capitol for this event and meeting with our local legislators; a great experience for them to be involved in our democratic process.  Both System President, Dr. Morna Foy, and Lieutenant Governor, Rebecca Kleefish, addressed the attendees and our students enjoyed meeting them as well.

I never fail to be impressed by the sheer talent, passion and commitment exhibited by so many of our student leaders – they most definitely shine!
