Putting Credits to Work

On February 7, we welcomed about 600 visitors to the Appleton campus for College Preview, a mini open house where parents and prospective students can gets answers to basically anything they’ve ever wanted to know about going to college. One of the hot topics again this year at the event was taking college courses in high school (dual enrollment) and then putting those credits to work toward a technical diploma or associate degree at Fox Valley Technical College.

Credits earned via dual enrollment give students a running start when they get to the college and allow them to move more quickly in putting their skills to work in the region’s workforce. Here’s a snapshot of dual enrollment through Fox Valley Tech:

  • Last year we served 3,957 high school students in dual enrollment courses at area high schools.
  • Because the courses are offered at no cost to the schools or to students/parents, if all these credits are put to work toward an FVTC credential, families would save about $1.7 million in tuition!

Are you or members of your family taking advantage of this great opportunity?
