Technical College Students Shine at the State Capitol

Earlier this week I was so pleased to join a number of our students at the state capitol for the annual Wisconsin Technical College System “Student Showcase.”  Student projects from all 16 technical colleges were on display and highlighted for state legislators, System leaders, and college presidents from across Wisconsin.  FVTC Interior Design students, Danielle Powers, Lisa Van Lannen and Kayla Domaszek featured their outstanding kitchen designs that have been entered in this year’s National Kitchen and Bath Association student design competition.

Leadership in Our Communities

This week was “education day” for both the Leadership Oshkosh and Leadership Fox Cities groups, and I had the opportunity to interact with both.  It was a pleasure to offer some welcome remarks to Leadership Fox Cities as the group spent about a half day at the Appleton Campus getting a firsthand look at several of our technical programs.

Putting Credits to Work

On February 7, we welcomed about 600 visitors to the Appleton campus for College Preview, a mini open house where parents and prospective students can gets answers to basically anything they’ve ever wanted to know about going to college. One of the hot topics again this year at the event was taking college courses in high school (dual enrollment) and then putting those credits to work toward a technical diploma or associate degree at Fox Valley Technical College.
